Robert W. Lanum Awarded IU Honorary Degree

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.—Indiana University (IU) with the approval of the Indiana University Board of Trustees has awarded Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Robert W. Lanum with the honorary degree of Doctor of Humane Letters for his distinguished achievements, especially in support of IU’s Southeast campus. He received the honorary degree on May 7, 2018, at the IU Southeast Spring Commencement ceremony.
Lanum is Of Counsel with Stites & Harbison based in the Jeffersonville, Ind., office. His practice focus includes corporate, trusts, estates and tax law. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, one of the highest honors a lawyer can receive in this practice. He was also certified as an Estate Planning and Administration Specialist by the Indiana State Bar Association’s Estate Planning and Administration Specialty Board.
Outside of the firm, Lanum was a member and the former chairman of the Regional Leadership Coalition. He is a founding member and board chair of the Paul Ogle Foundation, Inc., which has contributed more than $70 million to nonprofit organizations and educational institutions in Southern Indiana to include IU Southeast. He served on the Board of Advisors of both Junior Achievement and Jeffersonville Carnegie Library Foundation. He also served on the Board of Directors of Indiana University Foundation (1997-2014) and is a former director of the Louisville Public Library Foundation.
