KYIPA Elects Mandy Wilson Decker Chair of Board of Advisors

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Kentucky Intellectual Property Alliance (KYIPA) elects Stites & Harbison, PLLC attorney Mandy Wilson Decker as inaugural Chair of its Board of Advisors. She has served on the group’s Executive Advisory Committee since 2021.

KYIPA was founded in 2021 through an agreement between the United States Intellectual Property Alliance (USIPA) and the Kentucky Science and Technology Corporation (KSTC). Several organizations have supported KYIPA since its founding, including the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development and its KY Innovation team, University of Louisville, University of Kentucky and KSTC’s Kentucky Commercialization Ventures initiative. KYIPA’s mission is to cultivate the creation, protection and advancement of intellectual property in Kentucky by building relationships between statewide companies, organizations and innovators.

Decker is a Member (Partner) of Stites & Harbison based in Louisville and Lexington. She is a Registered Patent Attorney. Her practice focuses on intellectual property protection strategy, including counseling clients on infringement, validity and patentability, transfer of intellectual property, patent drafting and patent prosecution. Contributing to her practice is a scientific background in chemistry and experience with academic and commercial research in the areas of biochemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sciences.

Beyond KYIPA, Decker is active in a variety of professional and community organizations. She is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Association of University Technology Managers. Decker is Chair-Elect of the Kentucky Bar Association Intellectual Property Section. Additionally, she is a member of Legal Aid Society’s Justice for All Campaign Committee and an active volunteer at Saint Agnes in Louisville, Ky.
