Neil E. Barton
Neil Barton is an attorney in the firm’s Louisville office where he is a member of the Torts & Insurance Practice Service Group. His practice includes defense work in product liability with an emphasis on allegations arising out of residential and commercial fires and explosions, medical malpractice including nurse and nursing home liability, dental malpractice, premises liability, contract disputes, and actions alleging serious personal injury or death. Neil is certified by the National Association of Fire Investigators as a Fire and Explosion Investigator. Neil also has experience litigating fiduciary disputes and challenges to the settlement and administration of trusts and estates.
His practice also focuses on providing comprehensive legal services in the insurance arena including investigating and analyzing complex legal and factual situations to provide coverage opinions, defending against first party claims and subrogation actions, and prosecuting declaratory judgment actions on behalf of carriers and clients.

Before attending law school later in life, Neil was a professional musician, playing trumpet with various orchestras and bands in the United States and Canada, and a Store Manager for Starbucks. Besides music, Neil enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, and cheering on the Cards. While in law school, Neil completed a judicial internship with Magistrate Judge Colin H. Lindsay, United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky (Fall 2016) and served as Editor in Chief for Volume 55 of the University of Louisville Law Review.
