LOUISVILLE, Ky.—On December 10, 2019, Andy Beshear, a Democrat, was sworn in as Kentucky’s 63rd Governor. Prior to taking office, Andy previously served the Commonwealth of Kentucky as the Attorney General, and prior to that he was a Member (Partner) with Stites & Harbison, PLLC in the firm’s Louisville, Kentucky, office.
On January 7, 2020, Daniel Cameron’s official term as Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky begins; however, Governor Beshear appointed the Attorney General-elect to fill the remainder of his term as Attorney General, allowing Cameron to take office several weeks early.
Prior to his run for Attorney General, Cameron began his legal career as an Associate with Stites & Harbison in the Louisville, Kentucky, office before departing for Washington, D.C., to serve as legal counsel to Senator Mitch McConnell. Cameron is the first Republican Attorney General elected in Kentucky in more than 70 years.
Beshear and Cameron overlapped while working at Stites & Harbison, maintaining offices several doors down from each other on the same hallway.
“We know them both to be honorable men who are hardworking and committed to public service,” said Robert M. Connolly, Chair of Stites & Harbison. “We anticipate that each will do great things for our Commonwealth, and we wish them both the best in their new roles.”
