Stites & Harbison, PLLC adds five attorneys

LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Stites & Harbison, PLLC announces the addition of five new attorneys to the firm. Two of the five attorneys are based in the Louisville, Ky., office; one is based in the Lexington, Ky., office; and two are based in the Nashville, Tenn., office.
Louisville, Ky., Office Additions:
Lucas Nelson joins the Real Estate & Banking Service Group. He graduated cum laude in 2014 from Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Bloomington, Ind. Nelson was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, the Inmate Legal Assistance Program and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society. He joined Stites & Harbison after serving as a summer associate for the firm in 2013. Prior to that, he was a compliance department intern for Indiana University Athletic Department and a finance and regulatory intern at Kemin Industries, Des Moines, Iowa. Nelson is admitted to practice in Kentucky.
Zachary M. VanVactor joins the Business Litigation Service Group. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, along with a Certificate in International and Comparative Law from Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, La., in 2012. While in law school, VanVactor served as the senior managing editor of Tulane Maritime Law Journal and was the senior writing fellow of the International LL.M. program. Before joining Stites & Harbison, VanVactor served for two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Thomas B. Russell, U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Kentucky. Prior to his clerkship, he served as a judicial intern to the Honorable Jennifer B. Coffman, U.S. District Judge for the Eastern & Western Districts of Kentucky. VanVactor is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Indiana.
Lexington, Ky., Office Addition:
Taylor J. Stuckey joins the Trusts & Estate Planning Service Group. He graduated magna cum laude and Order of the Coif from the University of Kentucky College of Law, Lexington, Ky., in 2013. During law school, he was online editor of Kentucky Law Journal. Prior to joining Stites & Harbison, Stuckey was a judicial clerk for the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C. Prior to law school, he was an assurance associate with Mountjoy Chilton Medley LLP (2008-11) in Lexington. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Florida. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Nashville, Tenn., Office Additions:
Nicholas Barry joins the Creditors’ Rights & Bankruptcy Service Group. He earned his J.D. and Business Certificate from Vanderbilt University Law School, Nashville, Tenn., in 2013. In law school, he was note editor of the Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law. Prior to joining the firm, he was a law clerk for the Honorable William O. Bertelsman, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky (2013-14). Prior to law school, he was an Armorer and Security Forces Leader with the United States Air Force. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee.
J. Anne Tipps joins the Business Litigation and Torts & Insurance Practice Service Groups. She earned her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Knoxville, Tenn., in 2014. While attending law school, Tipps was executive editor of the Tennessee Law Review. She joined Stites & Harbison after serving as a summer associate for the firm in 2013. Prior to that, she was a legal intern for the Honorable U.S. Magistrate Judge John S. Bryant and also interned in the legal department at a large telecommunications corporation. She is admitted to practice in Tennessee.
